Hawaiian Airlines recently announced they are giving away up to 500 bonus miles this month for downloading using their MileFinder toolbar. This appears to be in addition to the 1,000 miles you could already earn before the promotion by performing internet searches. What’s the catch? To get the 500 mile bonus- well, that’s easy, just perform 500 searches. To get the full 1,500 miles or 1,000 on top of the bonus- at a rate of 1 mile per 3 searches, that’s 3,000 searches…meaning it might take you a little while. But hey, if you start today, that’s only 116 searches per day between now and the end of the month, right? Free miles are free miles I guess.
The true gem here is that this is a great way to keep your HawaiianMiles account active. My husband and I have both used the MileFinder toolbar in the past to make sure the precious few miles we actually earned by flying on Hawaiian don’t expire. You can also log into your family members’ accounts using the same toolbar (log out of your account first using the drop down menu at the far left) to make sure everyone stays active. All it takes for that is just 3 searches…well worth your time. Both times we’ve used it, the activity posted within a week for us.
So I’m probably going to try for 500 to get the bonus and call it a day, or rather month. It’s worth noting that 500 searches should actually yield 666 miles (the 500 bonus + 1 mile for for every 3 searches). Yeah, there’s something I just don’t like about that number; Maybe I’ll go for 501 searches instead. Promotion ends April 30th. After that it’s back to the regular 1 mile/3 searches up to 1,000 miles per month, which is far more generous than competing toolbars out there which are capped at 100 (ahem, United). Good Luck!
